On Monday, November 16th at 1 p.m. in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center at East Central University. Tickets: $5 for students, $10 for general admission.
Tom Stoppard presents us with the brilliant brainache - the God vs Science question - in the new National Theatre production of THE HARD PROBLEM.
Hilary, a young psychology researcher at a brain science institute, is nursing a private sorrow and a troubling question at work, where psychology and biology meet. If there is nothing but matter, what is consciousness? This is ‘the hard problem’ which puts Hilary at odds with her colleagues who include her first mentor Spike, her boss Leo and the billionaire founder of the institute, Jerry.
Is the day coming when the computer and the fMRI scanner will answer all the questions psychology can ask?
The screening will be followed at 3:15 by a free Honors Presents the Sciences: MIND VS. BRAIN discussion panel and Q&A featuring ECU faculty:

Dr. Marc Klippenstine, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology
