Don't Miss "Of Mice and Men" on April 30th!

On Thursday, April 30th at 6:30pm in ECU's Estep Multimedia Center, ECUScreens will present the Broadway recorded-live production of “Of Mice and Men,” a play based on John Steinbeck's Nobel Prize winning story.

"Of Mice and Men" tells the tragic tale of two migrant workers, George (James Franco) and Lennie (Chris O'Dowd), who have dreams of buying their own farm during the Great Depression in California. This Broadway production, which was nominated for two Tony Awards®, also features the talents of Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Tony Award® winner Jim Norton (The Seafarer).

The Daily Telegraph states, "James Franco crackles with intensity. Chris O'Dowd is a revelation."

Independent calls it "A riveting, powerful production."

Tickets are available at the door prior to the screening. 
Free for ECU students (with ID). $5 for students. $10 for general admission.

Get Behind the Beautiful Forevers April 13th at 4:00pm

ECUScreens will be screening Behind the Beautiful Forevers, its next National Royal Theatre production, on Monday, April 13th at 4:00pm in ECU's Estep Multimedia Center.

Based on the book By Katherine Boo,  Behind the Beautiful Forevers tells the story of the people living in the Mumbai slums and their larger than life plans while the global recession and accusations within the slums threaten their ways of life.

Before and after the screening, ECU Rotaract Club will be selling snacks and telling about their 2015 International Project: raising funds to help the World Toilet Organization build restrooms in rural communities in India and Cambodia.

Come see the production that The Guardian refers to as "a triumph for David Hare and Meera Syal" and Time Out calls, "a brilliant, horrible and heart-breaking story. A window into the lives of India’s poorest."

Tickets will be available at the door prior to the screening: $10/General Admission, $5/Students, FREE for ECU Students (with ID).

Let us shed some light on Skylight

Come see Skylight, the next Royal National Theatre recorded production in our Fall 2014 film series!

Skylight stars Carey Mulligan (The Great Gatsby) as Kyra Hollis, a schoolteacher who runs into Tom Sergeant (Bill Nighy), a recently widowed man from her past. As they attempt to rekindle their previous relationship, they find themselves in a "battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires." It's ALIVE… On October 29th and 30th

Come experience not one, but TWO Royal National Theatre recorded performances of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, starring Benedict Cumberbatch (12 Years A Slave, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Sherlock) and Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Mansfield Park).

On Wednesday, October 29th at 7:00, Cumberbatch will play Dr. Victor Frankenstein and Miller will be Frankenstein's creature, and on Thursday, October 30th at 7:00, their roles will be reversed as Cumberbatch plays the creature and Miller as the creator, Dr. Frankenstein!

You don't want to miss Nick Dear's adaptation that The Daily Mail called “memorable production [that] will doubtless be spoken of for years to come”  This production from 2011 was a total sell-out during the live performances, and according to the National Theatre Live website, "The broadcast has since become an international sensation, experienced by almost half a million people in cinemas around the world."

If you want to be part of those lucky people who get to experience these enthralling performances, then join us in the Estep Multimedia Center inside ECU's University Center at 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 29th AND Thursday, October 30th.  

General Admission is $10/show and Students can experience these performances for only $5/show.

N'Awlins Comes to ECU

Want a small piece of The Big Easy without leaving the comforts of Ada? ECU SCREENS, in collaboration with Sigma Tau Delta and The Honors Student Association is presenting our next NT LIVE production, A Streetcar Named Desire (Starring X-Files' Gillian Anderson), on October 14th at 7:00pm in the Estep Multimedia Center inside ECU's University Center. If you're needing a little more than just a screening, come early and experience our six-piece Dixieland jazz combo and New Orleans themed-treats, including: Virgin Mint Juleps, Bourbon Street Rum Cake, Louisiana Key Lime Pie, Mardi Gras Minicheesecakes, and Jackson Square Peanut Butter Cookies. New Orleans Night festivities start at 6:00pm in ECU's University Center.

Much Ado about Medea

Our next screening is quickly approaching, and we hope you all can make it out to see National Theatre Live's take on Ben Powers' new version of Euripides' Greek tragedy, Medea. Directed by Carrie Cracknell and starring award-winning actress Helen McCrory, Medea is sure to be an amazing viewing experience!

Coming Soon to a Multimedia Center Near You:

ECU SCREENS is presenting performances by the Royal National Theater of London throughout the Fall 2014 semester!

Instead of flying to London and purchasing a $58 ticket, or even making the trek to Ft. Worth and still paying $20 per ticket, enjoy these National Theater recorded live stage performances at ECU's Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center located inside ECU's University Center. Tickets are available at the door for $10 per person or $5 for students (with ID).

The first screening will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20th at 6:30pm, when ECU SCREENS, with the help of Sigma Tau Delta and The Honors Student Association at ECU, will be presenting "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” For more information on this performance, Click HERE.

October 8th at 1:00pm and 6:30pm:
Euripides’ ancient Greek tragedy “Medea”

October 14th at 7:00pm:
Tennessee Williams’ "A Streetcar Named Desire" featuring a New Orleans themed event the night of the screening.

October 29th and 30th at 7:00pm:
Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller.

November 1st at 6:00pm:
“Granito: How to Nail a Dictator” (will be shown in ECU's Ataloa Theatre located inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center)

November 14th at 6:30pm:
"Skylight" starring Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan.

November 19th at 5:30pm:
"Promised Land" starring Matt Damon, John Krasinski, and Frances McDormand). Screening will be followed at 7:30 by a public forum on fracking (both the screening and the forum will be held in the Foundation Hall in the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center)

Coming in the Spring of 2015:

January 8th at 6:30 p.m.
"John" A production of the Royal National Theatre of London.

ECU's Foreign Film Festival (Free Foreign Films on Fridays in February at Four)
February 6th at 4:00 p.m.
"Stalingrad" Commemorating the 51st anniversary of the epic World War II conflict that turned the tide against Nazi Germany.

February 13, 20, 27 at 4 p.m.

"Treasure Island" A production of the Royal National Theatre of London.

Spring (date to be decided)
"Of Mice and Men" The Broadway production starring James Franco and Chris O'Dowd.

"Man and Superman." A Royal National Theatre production of George Bernard Shaw's classic drama starring Ralph Fiennes.

September (date to be decided)
"The Hardest Problem." A Royal National Theatre production of Tom Stoppard's most recent play.
